NEWBURG METHODIST CEMETERY in NEWBURG TOWNSHIP

The Newburg Methodist Church had its beginning in 1859 when the Rev. H. H. Holland came to Newburg and held meetings in Hans Valder’s barn. The congregation was officially organized on May 20, 1860, with 22 charter members and the Rev. Holland as pastor. That same year a church was built, which served until 1922 when the present building was constructed. The altar painting is by C.H Havre.

The Newburg church belonged to the Norwegian Danish conference of the Methodist church until 1943 when it was merged with all the Methodist churches. The exterior was changed in 1954 when a new entrance was added.
